On 16 May 1518, compeared Thomas Wright, chaplain, and resigned his land on the east of the Gallowgate into the hands of Alexander Menzies, bailie. He thereupon granted sasine of it to Master Thomas Chalmer, chaplain of the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Joseph situated in the parish church of St Nicholas, according to the tenor of a charter providing for the performance of services for the granter and his parents.

{. . .} personaliter consitutus honestus vir dominus thomas Wryt cappellanus . . . resignauit totam et integram terram suam cum suis pertinenciis Jacentem in vico furcarum ex orientali parte eiusdem vici {. . .} In manibus prouidi viri Alexandri menzes vnius balliuorum dicti burgi ad dandam sasinam et possessionem hereditariam venerabili viro magistro thome chamer cappellano perpetuo altaris beate marie virginis et sancti Joseff situati in ecclesia parrothiali beati nicolaii de abirden et suis successoribus capellanis dicti altaris pro diuinis seruiciis pro ipso et patre ac matre eiusdem {. . .}
