Those present and those to come should know that I, Adam of Glasgow, burgess of the burgh of Berwick-upon-Tweed, have given, granted, and by this my present charter have confirmed to God and Blessed Mary and the monastic house of Melrose, and to the monks serving God there, now and in the future, those ten acres of arable land which are called Hideslaw in the tenement of Bondington, near Berwick-upon-Tweed, with free entry and exit to the same as they lie by their right and ancient bounds between the lands of the the monks of Berwick, and the monastic house of Saint Mary Magdalene towards the east . . .

Scaint presentes et futuri quod ego Adam de Glasgeu, burgensis burgi Berwici super Twedam, dedi, concessi, et hac presenti carta mea [confirmaui] Deo et beate Marie et domui de Melros, et monachis ibidem Deo seruientibus, et in posterum seruituris, illas decem acras terre arabile que uocantur Hiddeslawe in tenemento de Bondington iuxta Berwicum super Twedam cum libero introitu et exitu ad easdem sicut iacent per suas rectas et antiquas diuisas inter terras monialium de Berwico, et domus Sancte Marie Magdalene uersus orientem [etc.]
