William de Abernethy, knight, in contemplation of God and the honour of the Glorious Virgin Mary, gives and grants to God, the church of St Mary and the abbot and convent of Dryburgh, two merks of annualrent, for the sustentation of the light for the Masses of St Mary to be celebrated in the said church, to be received annually from the fruits of his mill of Oxton ('Ulkestoun'). He also ordains that from the said money sufficient wax should be had specially in front of the image of the Blessed Virgin in the choir of the said church. He promises to pay the said annualrent at the feast of the Purification of St Mary.
