dedication text (summary) dedication text (verbatim)John Kilmarnock, son and heir of the late John of Kilmarnock, burgess of Ayr, grants to God, St Katherine the Virgin, and the house of the Friars Preachers of Ayr, for the salvation of his soul, and the souls of his parents and of all the faithful, also for a light for the high altar, and for the repair of the buildings of the foresaid St Katherine the Virgin etc certain lands and annual rents. Mention is made of the well of St Katherine the Virgin. If there is any contravention of the grant then he or his heirs are required to pay a fine of 100 merks sterling at the feast of St Katherine the Virgin on the high altar of St Katherine etc.
