John, bishop of Moray, has seen and inspected a certain charter of William, once king of Scots, granting to God and the church of St Mary of Kinloss and the monks serving God there, five tofts in pure and perpetual alms. Bishop John confirms this. Charter is dated at Spynie on the feast of the decollation of St John the Baptist in 1355.
