After several years he was declared abbot of the monastery of Kinloss by sir William Culross, and was consecrated by the bishop of Brechin, surnamed Meldrum, on the feast of St John the Baptist. Having returned to his monastery, he completed his promotion as abbot, on the Assumption of the Blessed Mary, Virgin and Mother.

{. . .} Post aliquot vero annos, justa videlicet de causa, a domino Guilielmo Culross declaratus est monasterii a Kynlos abbas: et a praesule Brechinensi cognomento Meldron in abbatem sub festum Joannis Baptistae inunctus, ad suum monasterium rediit; rursus in celebritate assumptionis Beatae Mariae Virginis et Matris primum suae in abbatem promotionis sacrum magno nec minus religioso ornatu peregit.
