Brother Alexander Lichton, knight, prior of Torphichen and guardian and governor of all the lands of St John of Jerusalem within the kingdom of Scotland, has sighted and confirms a charter of Master Alan Futhes. The charter, dated 20 February 1423, states that Alan, master of arts and canon of the churches of Moray and Ross, grants to God Almighty, the Blessed Virgin Mary, all saints, and the bishop, dean and chapter of Aberdeen, for the sustentation of a chaplain to celebrate a weekly Mass at the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the south choir of the cathedral, his lands of Harlaw and half of all his lands of 'Litilwerthill' lying in the regality of the Garioch. The reddendo clause mentions service owed to the prior of Torphichen.
