- The feast of all the redeemed, known and unkown, who are now believed to be in Heaven. The feast originated in the East; it had been adopted at Rome by the 7th century, and came to Britain by the 8th century, where it appears in the Martyrology of Bede under 1 November. ODS, 16-17.
