The said day the Council ordered all the tacksmen of the waters of the town to pay and deliver yearly at the nativity of our Lord, called Yule, the lights of wax to the honour of God, Our Lady, and their patron St Nicholas, conform to the old use and custom. Each light is to weigh half a pound and is to be given to the lights of the altar of Our Lady, Cross in the loft, and St Nicholas.

The said [day] the Counsale present for the tyme all in ane voce concordand deuisit and ordained all the takismen of the watteris of this guid toun to pay and deliuer zeirlie at the natiuitie of our lord callit zowill the lichtis of wax to the honor of god our lady and thar patroun Sanct Nicholace conforme to the auld vse and consuetud that is to say euery takisman of the raik and done thre lichtis euery takisman of the midchingill tua lichis euery takisman of the Pot furdis and auchand part of ane saxt part of the cruffis ane licht weyane ilk licht half ane lib with thar avin mark on the same to be gevin to the lichtis of the altaris of our lady croce in the loft and Sanct Nicholace And to ressaue thar stump agane zeirlie and mak and gif thar candill at zowill as said is in all times cuming conforme to the auld vse and consuetued.
