John Collison, burgess of Aberdeen, in honour of Almighty God, of his unspotted mother Mary and of all saints, for the welfare of the souls of himself, of Elizabeth Leslie, his spouse, of his parents, etc, grants to the curate and chaplains of the choir of St Nicholas an annual rent of 20 s from his lands on the west of the Gallowgate. In return they are to celebrate at the altar of St Michael an anniversary, viz: placebo and dirige on the vigil of the feast succeeding the day of my burial, and a Mass 'de nota' on the same feast, with other Masses during the ensuing week. And the collector of the chaplains shall cause a crier with a hand bell to go through the town inviting all people to pray for the souls aforesaid, and shall place a table with a proper cover over the granter's tomb, and shall furnish wax lights, and shall cause the sacrist to ring the church bells thrice at the anniversary and at the Mass, and shall do all other things customary at anniversaries.
