To all who shall see or hear this charter, Henry Leith, laird of Barns wishes eternal health in the Lord. Know that I, for the health of my soul and the soul of Mariota Stewart, my wife, and the souls of our ancestors, parents, and successors, and of all the faithful, living and dead, have given [. . .] in pure and perpetual alms to God, and the Blessed Virgin Mary who bore Him, and to all saints, and to one chaplain celebrating and to celebrate for ever divine service in the parish church of Aberdeen, at the altar of SS Laurence and Ninian before the image of St Mary, for the souls' health of all the aforesaid, one annual rent of 10 merks Scots, to be drawn annually, thus [. . .]
