dedication text (summary) dedication text (verbatim)On 10 April 1452 appeared personally the noble man Sir John Scrimgeour constable of Dundee, knight, concerning confirmation of earlier agreement, dated 15 August 1449, between Helen Elge, wife of the late Peter of Dundee, burgess of Dundee on one hand, and John Simpson of Dundee, father and heir of the said Peter with consent and assent of Robert Simpson, his younger son, on the other hand. Due to debt and financial burdens which Peter faced at time of his death and Helen's dowry, John, with consent of Robert, resigned and renounced claim to lands and annualrents which they had inherited through Peter's death. Helen makes grant in mortmain of land or house with pertinents lying in the burgh of Dundee on north side of Castle street, with the land of the late Thomas Boyle to the east on one side and the stream of the castle which runs to the mill on the west on the other side, which was acquired and built by Peter and Helen. It is granted to the altar of All Saints in the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Dundee within seven years after the present date for the souls of Peter, Helen and all the Christian faithful with John and Robert as patrons and after their deaths, Robert Scrimgeour.
