A saint of doubtful existence and unknown date. A supposed virgin-martyr, alleged to have suffered in the persecution of Maximian (c. 303). There is no evidence of early cult, and the Acts of St Barbara, in Greek, are unhistorical. (Cult supressed in 1969.) ODS, 41.
