Description
The Blood of Christ, shed during the Passion, has been honoured and regarded as of redeeming virtue since the apostolic age, especially in connection with the Eucharist. Relics of the Holy Blood were the object of veneration in a number of churches in medieval Europe, especially Bruges and Westminster Abbey. See N. Vincent, The Holy Blood. King Henry III and the Westminster Blood Relic (2001).
