- Description
- In 1065, the Annals of Ulster record that "Dubthach the Scot, chief confessor of Ireland and of Scotland" died in Armagh. This may be the same Duthac commemorated in the Aberdeen Breviary under 8 March. There he is said to have been of noble Scottish birth, and studied for some years in Ireland; on his return he was consecrated bishop. He worked mainly in Ross. He died on 8 March and was buried at Tain. After seven years his body was found to be incorrupt and was translated to a shrine. William Worcester described him as "the saint reckoned to be most venerated in Ross". He has a number of miracle stories associated with him.
