Description
Usually identified with Thaddaeus and Jude, the brother of James, one of the 'brethren of the Lord', and author of the Epistle of Jude. He is supposed to have accompanied Simon in preaching the Gospel in Persia, where both were martyred. The relics of SS. Simon and Jude a thought to have been translated to St Peter's, Rome, in the 7th or 8th cent.. Reims and Toulouse also claimed notable relics. ODS, 291.
