The king has confirmed in mortmain a charter of his clerk, Thomas Lauder, canon of Aberdeen, and Master of the Hospital of Soutre, diocese of St Andrews, by which, for the salvation of King James I, etc., he granted and founded, for the maintenance of one chaplain at the altar of St Martin and St Thomas in the church of Blessed Giles, Edinbugh, and for the maintenance of the furnishings of that altar, annual revenue of 6 marks; 40 s.; 20 s.; and 26s. 8d., from certain tenements situated in the royal street in the burgh of Edinburgh and in the southern street of the same burgh, commonly called 'Cowgate'.
