To all who shall see or hear this charter, sir David Vaus, perpetual chaplain of the altar or chaplainry of the hospital of St Thomas the Martyr, situated within the burgh of Aberdeen, wishes eternal health in the Lord. Know that I [. . .] have given [. . .] to feu or perpetual hereditary lease [. . .] to an honourable man, David Mar, one of the bailies of the said burgh, and to his heirs and assigns whomsoever, all and whole that waste and uninhabited land with its pertinents belonging to the said chaplainry lying within the burgh in the Castle street, on the west side of the same, between the land of the late John Vaus, laird of 'Many', on the south, and the land of the altar of the chaplainry of St Barbara the Virgin situated within the parish church of St Nicholas of Aberdeen on the north [. . .] Grant is in return for paying thence annually to me and my successors the chaplains of the chaplainry of the said hospital the sum of 10 s Scots, in name of feu duty [. . .]
