He founded many monasteries of different orders, namely Kelso, Melrose, Jedburgh, Newbattle, Holmcultram, Dundrennan, the monastery of Holyrood near Edinburgh, Cambuskenneth, Rule, Kinloss, and house of nuns near Berwick and another near Carlisle, and the Premonstratensian canons of Dryburgh, Newcastle, and there a monastery of nuns and another of black canons [Augustinians].
