summary
And in the same month of April on St Mark's day, King Malcolm was crowned and reigned for thirty-six years. In the last year of his reign he founded the new church of Durham, and the church of the Holy Trinity of Dunfermline, and revived it with many gifts. He married the most holy and religious blessed woman namely Margaret, daughter of King Edward, king of England, and sired, by her, six sons, three of whom predeceased their father, the other three ruled successively. Malcolm himself was killed besieging Alnwick Castle on 13 November; and that glorious Queen Margaret who is to be adored for all time, followed four days later, after receiving the sacraments in church, and returned her saintly soul to heaven.
