In Danorum historia sic reperi. [. . .]
summary
Reverend father in Christ, sir Radulphus of 'Dunham', by the grace of God Prior of Tynemouth, and the holy Convent of that place, Brother Robert of Dunhelm, humble monk of Kelso, sends eternal greetings in the Lord. Many thanks to you, for the hospitality shown attentively in your house to us, namely me and my companion. It pleased your care to tell such things in the entertaining and discussions; that you had evidently found the bones of a certain man of great standing, and another lesser, which you thought were the bones of the venerable former King of the Scots, Malcolm, and his son. Whence you sought from me that, if I could find in any authentic codex some certainty as to how he died or where he was buried, I would notify you in writing. I found thus in the history of the Danes. Malcolm, king of Scotland and his firstborn son Edward, with their armies, were slain by soldiers of Robert earl of the Northumbrians, in Northumbria on the feast day of St Brice.
