The King has confirmed in mortmain a charter of Alexander Scott, provost of Corstorphine, by which he founded a perpetual chaplaincy in the parish church of the burgh of Irvine, at the altar of SS. John the Baptist, Christopher the Martyr, and Ninian the bishop, in the nave of the said church; for whose up-keep he granted in pure alms, the yearly income of 20 shillings from the church land with is croft in the said burgh, in the said lane, 'Smedebar', next to the 'Bogflats' [...] the yearly income of 4 shillings from the tenement of the late Alan Houston, next to the land of St Peter's altar [...]

Rex ad manum mortuam confirmavit cartam Alexandri Scott prepositi de Corstorphin, qua fundavit capellaniam perpetuam intra parochialem ecclesiam burgi de Irwin ad altare SS. Johannis Baptiste, Cristoferi martyris et Niniani pontificis in navi dicte eccles.; ad cuius manutentiam in puram elimosinam concessit --- annuum redditum 20 sol. de terra templaria cum crofta eiusdem in dicto butrgo in venella dicta Smedbar, iuxta le Bogflattis [...] ann. red. 4 sol. de tenemento quond.
