dedication text (summary) dedication text (verbatim)David, by God’s grace king of Scots, etc. You should know that for the sake of our soul, and the soul of our esteemed Margaret de Logy, and of the souls of our predecessors and successors, etc., to God and to Blessed Mary, and to the Friars Preachers of Aberdeen serving God in that place and who will be serving God forever, the 100 shillings sterling [£5] owed to us from of old of the barony of Banchory-Devenick in the Sheriffdom of Aberdeen, to be held and had by the same Friars in pure and everlasting alms, for the maintenance of one chaplain to celebrate divine service, forever, at the altar of Blessed Mary or Saint Michael in the church of the said Friars. . . At Aberdeen, the 2oth day of January in the 33rd year of our reign.
