Thomas de Chalmer, one of the baillies of the burgh of Abirdene, certifies that a prudent man, John Mathewson, burgess of the said burgh, came to him and requested that he would pass with him to the lands underwritten (to witness) the giving to Sir John Modane, chaplain, in his own name and on behalf of the Altar of S. Christopher, Martyr, founded anew by the said John Mathewson, and situated in the Parish Church of S. Nicholas, Abirdene, sasine and possession of the lands and annual rents following [. . .]
