"In honor of the Fader, Sone and Haly Gaist and the blessit virgine Sanct Marie and all the sanctis in Hevin, ane vorthty man, Thomas Jonsone, burges in Selkyrk, hes purlie and semply resignet and ourgevin with consent and assent of his ayr, yong Thomas Jonsone, be the exhibetioune of ane penny as us is in the burgh, halff ane merk of anueill yeirlie to be uptane of ane croft of land lyand at the louch end within the borrow rudis of Selkyrk {. . .} {. . .} And geif Thomas Jonsone, his ayris, makis nocht thankfull pament, as God forbyd thai doo, I ordand the curait of Selkyrk for the tyme to exoner the said Thomas and his ayris fra the occupy of the forsaid croft, and set it to the maist availl to ane fathfull burges of Selkyrk that my obeit be thankfully doun in honor of God and heill of my saull, Katheryne Scheill, my spous, Jhone Jonsone, maister James Jonsone and Thomas Jonsone saullis." {. . .}
