The abbot and convent of Dunfermline grant, let and set to feu-ferme to Thomas de Camera {Chalmer} the croft of St Laurence near their gate at the water of 'ferm' commonly called Torryburn in the street which runs from the said gate to the water of 'ferm', on the west part of that street between the garden of St Laurence on the north part and the said water on the south, along with a particate of land which lies on the west of that garden between the said garden and the said water in which bow butts {targets for shooting arrows} are now situated. These are to be held from the monastery and altar of St Laurence situated within the monastery. The reddendo is an annual payment of 8 s usual money of Scotland to the said altar of St Laurence.
