Mandate of pope is a result of a complaint by Coupar against Sir William Munifichet. Sir William had granted to God, St Mary of Coupar, and the monks serving God there, free pasture for forty animals from Keithick on his pasture of Layston . . . A stone of wax annually at Candlemas for the lighting of the church of St Mary of Coupar . . . Reference is made to marches between Keithick and Layston and between Campsie and Cargill which were perambulated on Innocents' day 1220. Sir William, after his death, also gives his body for burial to Coupar.
