In 1153 King David died at Carlisle and was succeded by Malcolm, son of Henry earl of Huntingdon, son of the said King David. In 1161 Malcolm founded the great church of St Andrew, at the time when Arnald was bishop . . . In 1170 St Thomas of Canterbury was martyred.

Anno Mo co liij obiit Rex David apud Carlyle, cui successit Malcolmus filius Henrici comitis de Huntyntone, filii dicti David regis, qui anno Domini Mo co lxj fundavit magnam ecclesiam Sancti Andree tempore Arnaldi episcopi {. . .} Anno Mo co sanctus Thomas Cantuariensis martirizatus fuit.
