dedication text (summary) dedication text (verbatim)Andrew Lyell, treasurer of Aberdeen, in praise and honour of Almighty God and the most glorious Virgin Mary, his mother, helper and mediatrix to human kind, for the salvation of the souls of James II, Mary his queen, James IV, his ancestors and successors, and for the souls of his own father and mother, and all the faithful departed, grants to Almighty God and his most glorious mother, and to the chaplains in the choir of Aberdeen cathedral, celebrating divine office daily, and their successors, an annual pension of 5 li from the fermes and rents of the burgh of Aberdeen, and annual rents of 20 s and 13 s 4 d. He grants to the chaplains of the choir of the collegiate church of St Nicholas of Aberdeen his whole fishing of the half nets, except 13 s 4 d, and annual rents of 46 s 8 d. The cathedral chaplains and their successors are to celebrate daily each week at the altar of the Blessed Virgin Mary, founded by himself, every Sunday and Monday the Mass 'Trinity', on Tuesdays and Wednesdays the Mass 'Holy Spirit', on Thursdays the Mass 'requiem', on Fridays the Mass 'Saviour of the people', and on Saturday the Mass 'glorious virgin Mary' at 11 o'clock in the morning. The chaplains and their successors of the said collegiate church are to celebrate the forenamed Masses at the High altar in the presence of St Nicholas, patron of that church, daily in winter at 6 o'clock in the morning and in summer at 5 o'clock in the morning.
