The provost, bailies and council granted to the wrights and masons of the burgh licence to repair and build their altar called St John the Baptist's altar, within the parish church of Aberdeen, and to decorate the same, providing always that the gift {of presentation} of the said altar remain with the town.

The said day the prowest ballies and counsell present for the tyme gaif grantytt and consentytt and assignitt to the craftismen vnder wrythin that is to say wrythis and masonis of the said burght frely lycence to repair and byg thar altar callit Sanct Johnne the Baptistis alter within the parroche kyrk of Aberdene and to decoir the samyn in the maist honest maner with all maner of accidentis that maybe had of thar said craft in tyme cumynge providing all wayis that the gift of the said alter remane with the tovne notwithstanding this gift.
