The bailies, council and most part of the community granted and consented unanimously to defend the presentation of the chaplainry of the Magdalene altar given by them to their servant and chaplain sir John Fife.

The said day the Ballies counsaile and the maist part of the communite present for the tyme warnit be the officiaris and circualie inquerit be Wilzeame Scrimgeour officiar grantit and consentit uith ane voice concordand na man sayand in the contrar to defend the presentacioun of the chaplanry of the Magdallene alter gevin be thaim to thair seruitor and chaplane Sir Johnne Fyf and to mak larg expenses thairapone for the defence thairof and thar said chaplane and to bid at thair appellacioun and defend the samyn.
