dedication text (summary) dedication text (verbatim)Alexander Matheson, burgess of Aberdeen, and true, legitimate, and undoubted patron of the altar of St Christopher the martyr, situated within the parish church, son and heir of the late Marjory Cullen - for the welfare of the souls of his said mother and her spouse, Alexander Reid of Pitfoddels - grants to sir Andrew Chalmer, perpetual chaplain of the said altar, an annual rent of 10 s from the late Robert Eriot's land on the east of the Gallowgate, an annual rent of 40 d from the late Thomas Gillespie's land on the west of the said street, and an annual rent of 20 s from the granter's land on the west of the said street. In return he is to perform the usual services.
