dedication text (summary) dedication text (verbatim)To all and each to whose knowledge these letters shall come the provost, councillors, and bailies of the burgh of Aberdeen wish salvation and the divine blessing. Seeing it is pious and meritorious to bear faithful testimony to the truth - and particularly in those things which find due and legal termination before the judges - whence it is that, whereas, before us sitting as a tribunal in the town-house of the said burgh, on the Monday after the feast of St John the Divine, in the year 1471, in full head court there held, there came to our bar Sir Alexander Club, chaplain and procurator of the Holy Cross altar, commonly called 'The Browne Croyce', with his procurator, Duncan Sawchar of 'Murcroft', on the one side, and Sir John Modane, chaplain of St Christopher, on the other. Dispute concerns recovery of annual rent from certain lands which are stipulated. Found in favour of Sir Alexander Club.
