dedication text (summary) dedication text (verbatim)Memorandum that on 17 November 1444 John Gray, burgess of Aberdeen, appeared in the tolbooth and gave into the hands of John Waus, then alderman, and to Duncan of Clat, bailie of the said burgh, an annualrent of 40 d yearly to St John the Baptist's altar of a land lying in the booth row on the west side of the Gallowgate between the land of Simon Blaber on the south side and a booth, held by the heirs of Davy Trall, of that land on the north half, the said altar having the fee of the said 40 d and the said John Gray remaining with the freehold for all the days of his life.
Memorandum that on the xvij day of Novembir' the yere of our' lord j m iiij cccc and xliiij yer comperit John' Gray, burgess' of Abirden' in to the tolbuth of that ilke and wpgeff in to the handis of John the Wauss', than alderman, and to Duncan of Clat, ballye of the said burch, ane annuall' rent of xl d' yerly til Sant John' the Baptistis awtar' of a land lyand in the buth raw on the west sid of the Galowgat between the land of Simon Blabir' of [sic.] the suth sid and a bwth that the ayris of Dawy Trall haldis of that ilke land on the north half, the said awtar' haffand the fe of the said xl d', the said John' Gray remaynand with the franktenement for all' the dayis of his lyffe.
