After the death of this Magnus the martyr and the death of Earl Hakon there succeeded Earl Rolland who first founded the church of St Magnus the martyr, and donated to it great possessions, riches and rents. The foresaid man was wise and strong in virtue, was renowned for many good deeds of piety, and was venerated and reputed as a holy man [. . .]
