[. . .] And attoure, haifand consideratioun, as said is, of the said Sir James gud service, done and to be done in exerting of the said office of wardanry, ordanis our Soverane Ladys Thesaurer, and Thesaurer Clerk, to content and pay, and thankfullie deliver, to the said Sir James, yeirlie, so lang as he broukis the office of the said wardanry, the soume of v c li money of this realme to be payit to him at twa termes in the yeir; that is to say, Sanctandrois day and Midsomer be equale portionis, begynnand the first payment at the feist of Sanctandro nixt to cum, and our Soverane Ladys Thesaurar and Thesaurar Clerk to gif thair speciale oblissing, conjunctlie and severalie, to the said Sir James, to be actit for the samyn in the bukis of Counsell; and the foresaid soume to be payit ay and quhill the autorite gif to the said Sir James reward upoun the knawlege of his gud service of the soume of j m merkis yeirlie in benefice or benefices, pensioun, or uthair casualite, to the availl of the said soume of ane thousand merkis, be yeir; quhilk being gevin the said Sir James to haif na ferther payment of the forsaid sowme of five hundreth pundis. [. . .] In presens of the Quenis Grace, my Lord Governour, and Lordis of Secreit Counsell, comperit ane maist reverend fader in God, Jhone Archbischop of Sanctandrois, Thesaurer to oure Soverane Lady, and Robert Carnegy of Kinnarde, Thesaurar Clerk, and at the command of my Lord Governouris Grace, as Thesaurar and Thesaurar Clerk officiaris, and band and oblist thame, thair airis, executouris, and assignais, conjunctlie and severallie, to refund, content, and pay to ane honorable man, Sir James Douglas of Drumlangrik, Knycht, Wardane of the West Merchis of this realme, fornentis Ingland, his airis, executouris, and assignais, the sowme of v c lib usuale money yeirlie, and ilk yeir at twa termes in the yeir; that is to say, the feist of Sanctandrois day and Mydsomer nixt efter following, sa lang as he bruikis the said office of wardanrie; the first termes payment to be and begin at the feist of Sanctandrois day nix to cum, and sua furth yeirlie induring the said space; and for the mair securitie ar contentit that this, thair obligatione, wer registrat in the buikes of Prive Counsell, and to haif the strenth of ane act and decreit of the Lordis thairoff [. . .]
